Fort Hays State University offers a multitude of undergraduate and graduate degree options. In addition to a degree, students can pursue a minor, certificate, or undergraduate research while at FHSU. Fort Hays State University is dedicated to working with military-connected students who have extensive work experience and/or an associate degree in applied science. The Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Applied Leadership is a pathway for AAS graduates to complete their bachelor’s degree in less than a four-year period. The BAS in Applied Leadership degree offers students a shorter path toward degree completion by maximizing military credit toward a bachelor’s degree.
The General Education Mobile (GEM) program is an initiative between the Air University of the U.S. Air Force and civilian higher education institutions. The purpose of the GEM partnership is to offer general education courses needed to complete an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree through CCAF. Leadership Programs at Fort Hays State University (FHSU) offers a 21-credit hour Minor in Military Science and Leadership. This program is designed for students who are interested in enhancing their collegiate study and or military careers with leadership education within a military context. Attachable to all university degree programs and majors, a Minor in Military Science and Leadership adds value to the collegiate experience and career preparation for both the military and civilian sectors.
This minor is available to all majors across campus. The Minor in Military Science and Leadership consists of 21 credit hours in both Military Science and Leadership Studies courses. Students who complete the Minor in Military Science and Leadership will also receive a Leadership Studies Certificate.
The Kansas Army National Guard (KSARNG) Officer Candidate School (OCS) allows current members of the KSARNG to complete their commissioning process while attending on-campus classes at FHSU. Soldiers completing this program will commission as Second Lieutenants in the Kansas Army National Guard upon completion of their bachelor’s degree and military training.
