Explore Your Options, Explore Your Field
Fort Hays State University is proud to offer a unique, innovative degree within our College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences where you are able to meet your short-term education goals, while promoting your own personal development in the long term.
An Associate of General Studies can provide you with the vast opportunities to study topics that attract your interests, transform your existing skills and intelligently adapt your learnings toward the rest of your college career. Our exploratory program provides you with the tools to build your own path by applying your ideas to your future in new and creative ways, with a supportive faculty and staff surrounding and guiding you at every step of the journey.
This two-year experience will result in an Associate of General Studies degree, which can be the first intermediate step on your path to a bachelor’s degree. Most importantly, the program provides the freedom to select a major, go on to fulfill the degree of your choice and continue to build foundations that allow you to invent your own future.
Students looking to investigate all their academic and career options prior to committing to a specific degree are best served in the Exploratory major.
Exploratory majors are advised in the Academic Advising and Career Exploration Center for 1-2 semesters to research options and develop an educational plan while completing general education requirements.
