Fort Hays State University is very dedicated to the economic viability of its service region. It provides expertise and assistance to the business community and to state, regional, county, and city organizations working in economic development.
The university is the home of the Kansas Small Business Development Center Network and Network Kansas which serve the entire state of Kansas. The Kansas Small Business Development Center Network has locations throughout Kansas. Its regional centers provide a wide array of services for new and existing businesses. Network Kansas is the state's one-stop shop for linking entrepreneurs and small business owners with resources. It is also the driver of the Kansas e-community program and Ice House Entrepreneurship Program.
The Fort Hays State University Regional Small Business Development Center is the Hays-and-Colby based Small Business Development Center serving Northwest Kansas. The Fort Hays State University Management Development Center provides management development training and consultation throughout the region and on-line. The mission of the Docking Institute of Public Affairs is to facilitate effective public policy decision making among governmental and non-profit entities. The Fort Hays State University Entrepreneurship Program is designed to prepare students to be the entrepreneurs of tomorrow through learning, living, and support systems including the cutting edge Dane G. Hansen Entrepreneurship Scholarship Hall.
