Research & Scholarly Activities at FHSU
Because of its size, FHSU resides in an exciting research niche: We're big enough to offer our faculty and students the resources needed to conduct research and creative scholarship at the highest level, but we're also small enough to provide ample opportunity to anyone interested in conducting research-lower division undergraduate students don't have to "wait their turn," and faculty are encouraged to think creatively and expand the very definition of research. We embrace innovation, and that spirit is constantly seen in the following areas of academic and creative scholarship:
- Kansas Academy of Mathematics and Science (KAMS)
KAMS is the state's premier academic high school program for the state's best and brightest high school students. - Academy of Mathematics and Science (AMS)
AMS is designed for high school-aged students from around the world. KAMS and AMS are a unique blend of high school and college-level instruction and hands-on research. - Undergraduate Research
Focusing on faculty-student collaborations, undergraduate students pursue scholarship in many forms with the goal of developing creative works and peer-reviewed research. - Undergraduate Research Experience (URE)
Creating research partnerships between student and faculty researchers and scholars from all across campus, the mission of URE is to engage students with faculty and staff mentors in meaningful scholarly activities. - Graduate Research
Supported by faculty across departments through coursework and assistantship opportunities, graduate students can apply for the Graduate Scholarly Experience (GSE) Grant Program, which is designed to engage FHSU graduate students with meaningful scholarly/creative/research activities. - Faculty Research
Earning accolades and respect on state, national and international levels, faculty research and creative contributions are supported and recognized through services, awards, and funding opportunities. - John Heinrichs Scholarly and Creative Activities Day (SACAD)
An annual celebration of scholarly research and creative activities since 2005, SACAD showcases on-campus and virtual undergraduate, graduate, KAMS/AMS, faculty, and staff research and creative works. - Resources for Research
Through self-guided videos, students and faculty can learn about the various stages of the research process from starting a project to presenting their research. - Office of Scholarship and Sponsored Projects (OSSP)
Providing research and scholarship support for the university community, OSSP serves as the central administrative unit responsible for the acquisition of external resources through grants and contracts, and guidance for regulatory compliance and the responsible conduct of research. - Forsyth Library
Providing resources for teaching and learning, the library has scholarly journals, digital archives and special collections, books, and research guides. Librarians are available to provide expertise and tools to help you gather, evaluate, and use resources for your research. Forsyth Library is a critical step in the research process.
