Spring 2021 Residential Life Planning FAQ’s
What is the university doing to make sure it is as safe as possible to live in a residence hall this spring?
FHSU has worked to provide resources and information to students who live on and off campus. We in Residential Life have reduced the number of students living in McMindes Hall and given attention to the student to restroom ratio. Sanitizer stations, additional cleaning and sanitizing of hard surfaces and spaces, along with signage encouraging social distancing are in the plan.
Will I have to wear a mask in my residence hall?
Masks are not required in your individual residential life rooms, but are required in all common spaces on campus. Students, bring your favorite cloth face coverings and wear them when you are in situations where you cannot socially distance from fellow Tigers and guests.
How will the value of my meal plan be affected by the steps you are taking because of COVID-19?
A number of options are available for students. While there are safety precautions taken, the value of your meal plan isn’t impacted. Because of socially distanced inside spacing, students will be able to take their meal to go and utilize the outside seating. For those interested in the all you can eat meal plan, this remains an option.
Why should I consider living in a residence hall if my courses are going to be 8-weeks long or online?
Social and educational programming remains a key component of the college experience. When you live on campus, there is a built-in community, allowing you to make friends quickly and have a support network. There are leadership opportunities in Residential Life that continue with leadership development, and personal growth in collaboration with your classroom experience. Residential Life staff are committed to delivering a great experience.
Will my housing contract be modified if I am only going to be on campus for 8 weeks, or taking some combination of hybrid and online classes?
You should contact Residential Life staff to discuss your housing contract.
How will student life programming on campus-clubs, student organizations, sporting events, concerts-change?
Residential Life will have a series of program opportunities working in collaboration with the Office of Student Engagement.
I need to work on campus to help pay for my education. Will I still be able to work?

Will I be able to secure a work study position?
