The three financial planning students chosen this spring to represent Fort Hays State University in the American Express Planning Invitational 2002 had big shoes to fill when they headed to Minneapolis to compete in the national competition held in April. Last year's team of students from Fort Hays State University had captured first place. But seniors Sarah Cline, Stephen Sutter, and Nicolette Zeigler, who are all majoring in finance, handled the pressure well and secured first place again for FHSU at this year's competition. Fort Hays competed against five other universities including Kansas State University, Slippery Rock (PA) University, Texas Tech University, Virginia Tech University, and Western Carlina State University. For its first place finish, Fort Hays was awarded the grand prize of $10,000 in scholarship money to be used for its financial planning program. Each team member also received $400 in prize money.
