National Collegiate Financial Planning Championship
Summary of Success for FHSU
Fort Hays State University has participated in the Financial Planning Challenge (formerly the Ameriprise Financial Planning Invitational), the national collegiate financial planning championship, from 2001 through 2011 (there was not a competition in 2009) and from 2018-2020. The competition, sponsored by the Financial Planning Association (FPA), Ameriprise Financial, and the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board) is open to universities that have CFP Board-registered undergraduate programs in financial planning. The competition has three phases: a written financial plan, an oral presentation of the plan, and the "How Do You Know?" Challenge game show competition. The teams with the top eight written financial plans in the country advance to the finals to present their plans and participate in the "How Do You Know" Challenge.
