Careers in Geosciences
Geosciences graduates enjoy a variety of exciting careers in education, government, and business. Geoscientists find rewarding careers in exploration and mining, finance, engineering and construction, analytical and research laboratories, environmental planning, and in dozens of other fields.
Geology: Major employers of geologists are the mining industry, municipal authorities, government bodies, the civil engineering industry, and the oil industry. Geologists are often involved in research work at various research institutes, museums and universities.
Geography: Because almost any issue can be examined from a geographical perspective (marketing, crime, health, conservation, education, politics, tourism, retailing, social services, etc.), a geography degree will prepare you for an exciting career in dozens of fields.
GIS: Skilled GIS experts are in great demand in business, government, and science. Job growth in GIS is expected to be among the highest of all fields over the coming decade, and starting salaries are above average.
