Background:
A graduate teaching assistant in the early 1990s, Mr. Rohlf jumped onto the beginning of what was being called "Media Convergence." Mr. Rohlf studied radio, television, and computer internetworking; produced TV & Radio news/commentary shows; and learned the basics of web development. Learning Style Preferences Among Early Internet Adopters was his chosen research focus.
In the late 1990s, Mr. Rohlf served as Assistant Professor of FHSU's Department of Information Networking and Telecommunications (INT) serving in the "Media Studies" and the "Computer Networking & Telecommunications" emphases. In addition to standard teaching, research, and community service, Mr. Rohlf established FHSU's first 'Streaming Media' server availing the campus radio station (KFHS) to anyone on the Internet. On the Computer Networking side, Mr. Rohlf provided a crucial early role in integrating the Cisco Networking Academy into INT's Computer Networking & Telecommunications emphasis.
Post y2k, Mr. Rohlf served as Information Technology (IT) manager for a Western Region Architecture & Engineering firm mentoring and cross-training network administrators; aligning IT strategy and business goals and communicating with the user community. Mr. Rohlf was an honorary adjunct throughout the 2000s returning in 2010 to assist with the transition of FHSU's Radio, TV, and Newspaper silos into a contemporary converged "Digital Media Production & Journalism" program.
