Biography
Dr. Robert Lloyd is a tenured professor in the Department of Management. In addition to teaching management courses, he has led students on travel courses to the Caribbean, South America, and Europe. He serves as the lead consultant for the Management Development Center and regularly provides guests lectures at universities around the world. His research has been cited more than 500+ times and can be found in Academy of Management Proceedings and Journal of Management History. Dr. Lloyd serves on the executive board of the Southwest Academy of Management.
Dr. Lloyd is an award-winning teacher and researcher. He is the recipient of the 2024 President's Distinguished Scholar, the 2021 Southwest Academy of Management Outstanding Educator Award, the 2022 RCOBE Faculty of the Year for the Department of Management, the 2019 Fall Outstanding Teaching Award, as well as multiple Best Reviewer and Best Paper awards at various conferences. He garnered first place in the 2018 MABDA Innovation in Business Education Competition, as well as the top award for Creativity in the 2017 USASBE Experiential Classroom case presentations. He was a 2019 finalist for the prestigious Edmund Shearer Faculty Advisor of the Year Award, and the Pilot Award.
Dr. Lloyd brings more than a decade of industry experience to higher education. In addition to private-industry consulting, he also managed his own fertilizer merchandising firm and real estate investments. He worked for six years as a commodities marketer for Koch Industries in Wichita, KS, spent six summers on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska as an outdoor adventure guide and manager, and served one season as auxiliary staff at McMurdo Station in Antarctica. He speaks fluent Spanish and conversational German and French. In his spare time, he enjoys classical literature and watching FHSU baseball.
