Digital Cinema Production Concentration
About the Program
The Master of Liberal Studies concentration in Digital Cinema Production prepares students to develop mastery of digital media videography, production and editing processes. Students may customize their program of study based upon particular interests, such as: short documentary, journalism, or advanced audio, with the approval of the student's advisor.
The Digital Cinema Production concentration is offered through the Department of Informatics. All required courses are offered on-campus and require a campus presence.
Program Admissions Requirements
This concentration requires a minimum of a 3.0 GPA in the last 60 undergraduate hours.
The program has established these deadlines for priority application consideration:
- Fall - March 31
- Spring - October 31
- Summer - January 31
Program Curriculum
MLS Core Courses: 10 credit hours (required)
- IDS 801: Introduction to Graduate Liberal Studies
- IDS 802: Ways of Knowing in Comparative Perspective
- IDS 803: Origins and Implications of the Knowledge Society
- IDS 804: Information Literacy
Concentration Core: 15 credit hours (required)
- INF 633: Advanced Video Production *
- INF 634: Graphics and Effects for Video and Film (Available every other Spring)
- INF 636: Computer Editing of Video
- INF 638: Intensive Video Production
- INF 678: Seminar: Project Management (Virtual Option Available)
Select one of the following: 3 credit hours
- MUS 678: Seminar in Music Technology I
- MUS 688: Seminar in Music Technology II
- COMM 675: Playwriting/Screenwriting or an acceptable alternative
- ENG 675: Playwriting/Screenwriting
*Pre-requisite or leveling course, INF 348: Beginning Video
Culminating Experience: 3 credit hours
- IDS 880: Seminar in Liberal Studies OR an acceptable alternative
Total Required Hours: 31 credit hours
