New Student Orientation - On-Campus

New Student Orientation serves as an essential starting point for academic and personal success at Fort Hays State University! Orientation is required for all new first-year and transfer students who will begin attending FHSU on-campus during the Fall 2026 semester. The program will include informational sessions and engagement activities designed to help incoming students feel prepared for the transition to college life!

Orientation Program Timeframe
All FHSU orientation programs will begin at 1:00 PM-CT. Check in will start at 12:00 PM in the Memorial Union. There will be an optional FHSU resources browsing fair before the program begins from 12:00-1:00 PM. The program will end at approximately 4:30 PM.

If you need to change your orientation date or are unable to attend an orientation program, please contact Academic Success Office at 785-628-5050 or fhsuorientation@fhsu.edu or fill out our date change request form
Students attending orientation are allowed to bring 1-2 guests. The orientation program does include a parent/guest specific session. During this session, parents and guests will learn about career development and opportunities, counseling and medical services, campus safety. and parent communication.
There is an orientation and new student fee that covers the costs for orientation, FHSU TigerCard, and Welcome Weekend activities! Students can pay the fee when completing the orientation registration form or choose to defer the payment to their Fall 2026 tuition bill.
Students will work with their assigned academic advisor to enroll in courses. Students should check their email for more information on how to schedule with their academic advisor. Students must be enrolled in courses before they attend New Student Orientation.
