Gregory Nelson

Dr. Gregory Nelson is a Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Senior Certified Professional (SCP). He began his HR career as the operations director for a Midwest consulting firm serving Fortune 500 clients, public-sector municipalities, and small businesses. Dr. Nelson has academic training in human resources, business management, data analytics, public affairs,and geoscience. He recently retired from one of the world's largest energy companies, where he worked as a cross-functional exploration team specialist, enterprise recruiter, collegiate intern mentor, and technology trainer. Dr. Nelson enjoys engaging students and working professionals interested in advancing their human resource and business management careers.
He has volunteered time with SHRM's collegiate focus groups, regularly attends the national SHRM conferences, and is currently a participant in a SHRM college outreach pilot program. In his free time, Dr. Nelson enjoys spending time with family, hiking, playing drums, and skiing on any of the great slopes of North America.

How much does the FHSU's prep course cost? What does that cost include?

Cost: $1,375

That cost includes your printed SHRM Learning Materials, access to the online SHRM learning system, supplemental material in FHSU's Lightspeed learning platform, and access to a SHRM-certified instructor to help you navigate the course. The cost of the prep course does not include the exam fees.

How much does it cost to take the exam?

Early Bird (SHRM Member): $335 / Early Bird (non-SHRM member): $435

Are there any eligibility requirements needed to take the FHSU's prep course?

No! You can register in FHSU's prep course regardless of your professional or educational certifications. However, there are eligibility requirements to take the SHRM exam.

How long is the prep course?

You have 16 weeks to work through all of the material with instructor support.

*No new content will be presented the week of March 17-21, 2025 due to spring break.

Do I attend sessions live?

No. You may study the material at your own pace; however, you will be required to submit activities throughout the 16-week period by a specific due date.

Optional live chats via Zoom are available with your instructor.

What if I don’t finish the prep course?

You have access to the printed SHRM Learning System materials forever. You will have access to the online SHRM Learning System for one year. You will have access to the supplemental material on FHSU's learning system for up to four months after the course is complete; however, you will not have instructor support after the 16-week course has closed.
