Careers in Teacher Education
Education is a field that is always changing and growing, which means you have many career opportunities after college. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the employment of school teachers is expected to grow by 17 percent between 2010 and 2020, creating over 281,500 new teaching positions.
The demand has never been greater for teachers, particularly in the areas of mathematics and science, special education, and early childhood education. You may start out in the classroom, but over the course of your career, you may find yourself pursuing a graduate degree in education to become a school counselor, a principal or an education specialist, among others. A teacher education degree opens up dozens of career options and recent FHSU Teacher Education graduates are working in dozens of schools in Kansas and across the nation, and serving their communities as educators and administrators.
