There are a few steps to using your VA benefits at FHSU and even these can change based on the specific benefit you qualify for. Not sure what you qualify for? Check out the Veterans Affairs website for more information or contact your local Veteran Service Officer for assistance. The steps below are the basic first steps to get going if you do know which benefit you plan to use:
- Register to use your benefits at the VA site.
- Send a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility after your benefits application has been approved to the VA Certifying Official, Robyn Brungardt, at fava@fhsu.edu.
- Fill out the Class Schedule for Veterans Benefits each semester after you have registered for courses so that they can be certified with the VA.
- Get the Military Service tab started in your Workday profile.
- Login to Workday
- Select “View Profile” in the upper right corner
- On the left-hand side select “Personal”
- Select the “Personal Information Tab” on the top middle tab
- Scroll down in the middle and find the “Military Service” section and select the "Add" option
- Select the appropriate box pertaining to veteran status and enter your discharge date if you know it, if not leave blank
- “Save” these changes
- Finally, hit “Submit” in the lower-left corner
-
Once you complete this step, it will update your account within 24 hours and you must notify our office that you completed the “VA Workday steps”. E-mail fava@fhsu.edu to notify and please include in the e-mail if you are 1) The Veteran 2) Child of Veteran 3) Spouse of Veteran. After this has been completed, your Class Schedule for Veterans Benefits will be processed.
