Building Leadership (Principal) Comprehensive Exam Process
Both degree and non degree (endorsement) seeking candidates are required to complete theBuilding Leadership Practicum ePortfolio (BLPeP) in order to present it during the comprehensive exam. Degree seeking students should file an intent to graduate at the start of the semester they are planning to graduate. Non degree (endorsement) candidates need to contact Dr. Robert Moody at ramoody@mail.fhsu.edu to set up an appointment time. If you wish to proceed with licensure in the state of Kansas, you must take the School Leaders Licensure Assessment Exam #6990. For other state licensure information, contact your particular state's education department.
All candidates will complete a minimum of 150 hours (# varies by state) of clinical activities related to the work of a building administrator with emphasis in grades preschool through twelfth grade (P12). Activities related the district as a whole are also included. Documentation of activities are presented in a personalized Building Leadership Practicum ePortfolio (BLPeP). Once the activities have been uploaded, the candidate will record a screencast-o-matic video, with the candidate embedded into the video presentation describing the highlights of the ePortfolio. The video (15 mins. max) will then be uploaded into YouTube. The candidate will then share the video's url with his or her advisor for review. Advisors must have the video at least two days prior to the comprehensive exam final review (15 min Google Hangout videoconference call). An appointment calendar will be sent out to all eligible candidates during the semester to schedule the Hangout.
