State of Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) Licensure Requirements
The Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board (BSRB) exists to protect the citizens of Kansas, in part through the licensing of counselors. Before you can become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), you must meet the qualifications set out in Kansas statutes and BSRB regulations. The BSRB Web site has a wealth of current information for counselors including current state statutes and regulations, requirements for becoming a LPC and LCPC, application procedures and forms, and NCE and NCMHCE test dates.
The National Counselor Exam (NCE) and the National Clinical Mental Health Counselor Exam (NCMHCE) are published by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), and more information on these tests is available on the NBCC Website.
All application for licensure must be made on forms provided by the Board and be submitted with the appropriate fee.
