From the heart of the United States, the Academy of Mathematics & Science (AMS) at Fort Hays State University (FHSU) equips students to reach higher and seize the future. AMS is one of two early college programs at FHSU designed to provide an unparalleled academic experience for gifted & talented high school students from around the world. Admission is selective and competitive.
AMS provides an innovative, residential early college experience for international and out-of-state high school juniors and seniors. The program provides a blend of:
- college-level instruction by Ph.D. faculty at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas;
- an opportunity to earn an Associate of General Studies (A.G.S.) in Science from FHSU;
- a U.S. high school diploma and over 60 hours of college credit;
- hands-on research experiences with Ph.D. faculty;
- leadership development and civic engagement opportunities;
- co-curricular and extra-curricular opportunities to develop the whole student;
- a safe residential environment that fosters learning.

*Students in both AMS and the Kansas Academy of Mathematics & Science (KAMS) enroll in the same classes, conduct research together, live in the same residence hall, join forces for athletic and academic competitions, and can participate in the same clubs and organizations.
