Dean's Welcome
Welcome to the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences’ website, where you can learn more about our college’s exciting academic programs, about our vibrant co-curricular activities, and about the opportunities available to arts, humanities, and social sciences graduates.
Our college includes the Department of Communication Studies, Law, and Political Science; the School of Criminal Justice, Leadership, and Sociology; the Department of English and Modern Languages; the Department of History and Philosophy; and the School of Visual and Performing Arts.
The work that students and faculty do inside and outside of the classroom in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences develops the creative, critical, and practical skills that graduates will use throughout their lifetimes—and across multiple careers—in a rapidly changing world.
Our General Education courses teach skills that are essential for success in every profession, and they prepare graduates to be productive and successful leaders at the regional, national, and global levels.
Our work places us at the heart of the university, fulfilling our shared mission to meet the democratic, economic, and social needs of our communities, our region, and our world.
Our college’s faculty, department and school chairpersons, and professional advisors look forward to sharing more information about opportunities for scholarly, creative, and professional development in the arts, humanities, and social sciences.
Please email me or stop by our dean’s office (Rarick Hall 101) if you have questions or would like to learn more about our college and its exciting programs.
Yours, truly,
J. David Macey, Ph.D.
Dean
