Career Fair/Mock Interview Preparation (presented by Career Services)Students are often unaware of how to navigate a career fair or prepare for the interview process. Career Services would be happy to meet with your class before the career fair or mock interview day to discuss techniques for presenting themselves professionally at these types of events. These presentations cover topics such as first impressions, professional dress, researching employers, greeting recruiters, resume/interview prep, and what to do after the career fair or interviews.
Career Ready Competencies (presented by Career Services)
Career readiness of college students is an important issue in ensuring students are prepared to transition from college to career. The National Association of Colleges and Employers developed a definition of career readiness and identified eight competencies associated with career readiness. In this presentation, students will learn the necessary skills to prepare them for a successful entry into the workforce.

What can Career Services do for me? Students are often unaware of the support and resources provided by our office to help guide them in professionalism and their job/internship search. Students will gain a snapshot of all the resources, professional development opportunities, and guidance our office provides to assist them with career readiness.
Major/Career Exploration (presented by Academic Advising & Career Exploration)
Finding the right major fit is every college student’s dream, but do you find or confirm your ideal major? The Academic Advising and Career Exploration Center offers a variety of services to help students explore and confirm major selection. This presentation will introduce and discuss the different services available to students including FHSUMajors.com, in-office career exploration, UNIV 100: Major and Career Exploration, What Can I Do With a Major In… website and more.
Networking, Interviewing, Professional Dress (presented by Career Services)
The job search process can often be overwhelming for students. Career Services offers opportunities and resources to help them make connections and prepare for the interview process and their future. This workshop will cover strategies for networking, interviewing, professional communication and etiquette, and introduce students to our online interview training system, Big Interview.
Personality – Why You Do What You Do (presented by Academic Advising & Career Exploration)
Understanding your personality is key to finding success in college and beyond. This presentation provides students access to complete the TypeFocus personality assessment (similar to Myers-Briggs) . A member of the Academic Advising and Career Exploration Center will present and discuss the characteristics and strengths of the 16 personality types and how they influence major/career exploration and college success.
Resume/Cover Letter Writing (presented by Career Services)
This workshop provides students with tips and resources for creating a professional resume and cover letter. Students will assess their skills and abilities and learn how to format their documents to be a more marketable candidate.
Say Hello to Handshake (presented by Career Services)
Handshake is an online career development platform designed to help students with their career or internship search. This presentation will guide students through activating their account, developing a professional profile, and searching for nationwide full-time jobs and internships. Students will also learn how to utilize their account to schedule appointments with Career Services staff, register for events, network with their peers, and more.
Social Media Mindfulness/Online Job Search Tools (presented by Career Services)
Knowing how social media influences the job search is important. A professional social network empowers students to develop their image and make meaningful connections. In this workshop, students will learn the positive and negative effects that social media can have in their job search. They will also obtain guidance on how to use social media and other online job sites to network and find opportunities.
TigerLink & Corq (presented by Student Engagement)
TigerLink & Corq are the best ways for any member of the FHSU community to be connected to campus. TigerLink is home to all of the student organizations on campus, and the place to find all of the events happening on campus. Corq is the mobile of TigerLink which allows anyone to stay connected whether they are on campus or off campus, and even add events to your phone’s calendar so you do not forget when the event is happening!
