Get Involved Outside the Classroom
Learn outside the classroom and develop leadership skills by getting involved in student organizations. Take advantage of professional development opportunities, participate in community service projects and network with industry leaders through participation in the following groups:
Chemistry/Pre-Professional Club
This club promotes professional development, scholarly excellence, practical education and community service in the sciences among FHSU students and the surrounding community. The "Chem Club" sponsors very popular Magic Shows for nearby elementary and middle schools, provides a clearinghouse for students desiring tutoring or advanced study and offers scholarships to its active members. For more information, contact Dr. Arvin Cruz, faculty sponsor.
AMSA/Premedical Club
The AMSA/Premedical Club brings together all pre-medical, pre-dental, and pre-optometric students, regardless of major. Members of this organization help one another prepare for various entry-level tests, stay focused on collegiate undergraduate objectives and stay on track for future success. The Pre-Med Club supports the health profession goals of its members by sponsoring clinics (e.g. for suturing or casting), field trips to professional schools and numerous opportunities for networking with practicing health professionals. For more information contact Dr. James Balthazor or Dr. Medhavi Ambardar, faculty sponsors.
