Student Organizations
Don't forget to nurture your life beyond the classroom. Student organizations help you make friends and get involved with your campus and your community. Some organizations also give you the opportunity to network with other students throughout the country who share your career goals. Becoming active in campus life enriches your college experience and helps you develop leadership skills and self-confidence.
The Health and Human Performance department has four organizations that we sponsor for the benefit of students like you.
Phi Epsilon Kappa-Delta Theta Chapter
The Delta Theta chapter of the Phi Epsilon Kappa national honor society recognizes FHSU students pursuing careers in physical education, health, recreation, dance, human performance, exercise science, sports medicine and sports management. Through Phi Epsilon Kappa you will have the opportunity to gain leadership skills through campus, community, and professional activities. Contact Dr. Jessica Phelan to get involved.
HHP Majors Club
Want to get involved in what is going on in the department, meet some of your classmates, participate in university affairs, the HHP Majors Club is for you. If you are interested in becoming involved, contact Ms. Lezah Fox for more information.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes
The Fellowship of Christian athletes presents an opportunity for students to combine their faith with their interest in athletics. This organization sponsors Fields of Faith, a national annual event which presents the opportunity for FHSU students to worship and serve God in partnership with the Hays community. All students interested in Christianity are welcome, regardless of their participation in FHSU athletics. To get involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Contact Mr. Drew Gannon.
Pre-Professional Healthcare Club
The mission of the FHSU Pre-Proffesional Healthcare Club is to provide meaningful experiences for students in preparation for physical therapy, occupational therapy, athletic training, physician assistant, and chiropractic. The Club will bring together FHSU students with the purpose of professional development to strengthen applications for professional school and beyond. Membership in the Pre-Professional Healthcare Club is available to students interested in pursuing a career in these professions or a similar fields, including physical therapist assistants and occupational therapy assistants. Members are required to be enrolled at FHSU. To get involved with Pre-Professional Healthcare Club, contact Ms. Macy Linn or visit the Pre-professional Healthcare Club RSO website.
HHP majors often participate in Intramurals, a campus-wide organization that provides many physical and social activities designed to meet the needs of the FHSU community. In addition to paid positions, you can gain leadership experience by serving as a part of Intramural Council or being an officer in Intramural club. For more information, see the FHSU Intramurals Web site.
Beyond Cunningham Hall, HHP majors can become a part of many campus-wide organizations, like Tigers in Service or the Student Government Association. For more information about the organizations on the FHSU campus, contact Fort Hays State University's Student Engagement.
