Classification and Market Study
Fort Hays State University is in the process of completing a classification and compensation study. The study is to ensure the human resources office can meet university needs as we meet new opportunities and challenges, ensure continuous improvement and provide top quality service to our employees and students.
FHSU has engaged CBIZ Human Capital Services to assist in this endeavor. The study is designed to update FHSU's compensation and classification system for Unclassified Professional Staff and University Support Staff.
The results of this study will strengthen our ability to analyze what and how our competitors pay for similar skills and responsibilities. It will establish processes that value jobs and employees within FHSU based on each job's and employee's contribution to our mission and organizational objectives. Our goals for the new compensation system are that it:
- Develops equity within FHSU between positions
- Reflects competitiveness with comparable organizations
- Allows FHSU to maintain and promote a performance-oriented culture
- Provides FHSU with flexibility to continue to respond to economic, political, and organizational changes
- Updates our internal human resources and compensation processes
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws
Because we are future-oriented, the focus of this study is to develop a compensation and classification system that will support our goal of retaining and recruiting the best individuals to ensure the continued growth and success of FHSU. The new system will provide improved tools and information, so that we can make the best and most responsive decisions regarding recruitment, employee development, and compensation.
