Faculty Services
Library Liaisons
Liaisons provide a personal connection to facilitate communication and provide library services to academic departments and other FHSU stakeholders. Your liaisons will also keep you up to date with professional development events, database trials, and other library updates to support your teaching and scholarship.
Instruction Sessions for Library and Research Skills
Forsyth Library collaborates with educators to teach information literacy, research skills, and lifelong learning skills that students can transfer to other courses and apply beyond the University. Instruction sessions can be delivered in a variety of settings and formats, and are designed to fit the needs of the class and students. Request a session online through Forsyth Library Instruction Request form.
Online Tutorials for Library and Research Skills
Forsyth Library provides online guides, videos, and modules that cover a variety of information literacy skills including choosing and narrowing a topic, developing a research question, effectively searching library databases, and more. These can be used independently, assigned by an instructor, or embedded into a course. Collaborate with your liaison to design a customized tutorial to fit your needs, or browse one of our existing tutorials.
Course Reserves
Make physical course materials available for students to borrow at the Welcome Desk. To place a textbook, personal copy, or library copy of books or other physical materials on reserve for your course, please complete the Faculty Course Reserve Form.
Open Educational Resources
Use this guide to learn about open educational resources (OERs), request a customized list of potential OERs for use in your course, learn to search for OERs yourself, or get help with Creative Commons Licensing. The FHSU OER web page also has more information about OERs.
Interlibrary Loan
If we don't have a book or article you need, you can request it via interlibrary loan (ILL) and we'll borrow it from another library for you.
Scholarly Communication
Get help with any step of the process of scholarly communication including publishing, formatting references, learning about bibliometrics, choosing a journal, reviewing a publication agreement, and submitting scholarly works to the FHSU Scholars Repository.
Recognition of Scholarly and Creative Activities
Faculty and/or staff who have recently published a scholarly article or book or showcased creative works can submit the Scholarly News Form to be recognized for your exciting accomplishment. Your news will be shared on social media, featured in the Scholarship Spotlight slideshow in the library and online, and recognized in an annual press release and event celebrating faculty scholarship. Submissions will also be analyzed and eligible works will be invited to be deposited into the FHSU Scholars Repository.
