What is an Open Educational Resource?
Open Educational Resources, or OERs, are educational materials (such as textbooks, problem sets, assessments, slide decks, videos, lesson plans, study guides, etc.) that can be used for free and without permission. To learn more about OERs, visit our FAQ.
Open Educational Resources at FHSU
The goals of Fort Hays State University's Open Educational Resources (OER) initiative are to reduce the cost of educational resources for students, staff, and faculty while supporting high-quality teaching, learning, and research and to increase university participation in a learning environment that values global sharing of knowledge.
To this end, FHSU maintains an OER Committee to recommend, develop, and implement strategies that increase adoption of OER resources by faculty at Fort Hays State University in lieu of commercially published resources.
Support for Open Educational Resources
The Forsyth Library provides support for discovering, adapting, and using open educational resources, or OERs, in courses, presentations, and research.
