Dr. Scott Droege
Assistant Professor of Management
Biography
Dr. Scott Droege has taught extensively in the USA, China, and Thailand at undergraduate, masters, and doctoral levels. He has chaired several doctoral dissertations at Ramkhamhaeng University in Bangkok.
Much of his research centers on institutional change in emerging economies countries as they progress from emerging toward emerged economies. He is particularly interested in small business strategies for surviving the unique challenges these small businesses face as they negotiate the challenges of large-scale institutional changes.
Scott’s business experience is in the financial services industry. He previously worked as a Certified Financial Planner with American General Financial Group. He placed in the top ten among over 2,000 representatives in terms of sales after only his third year with the company.
Prior to his business career, Scott worked as a respiratory therapist. He specialized in pediatric hospitals and home health care. His most meaningful health care experiences were working with patients in inner cities in which economic factors often limited health care availability. Although it has been several years since practicing, he has remained interested in current health care advances particularly as they apply to countries with less developed and emerging economies.
His health care and business experience combined with his interest in less developed and emerging economies has focused Scott’s concern on poverty’s effects on health and welfare. This has focused his concern for those living in areas of rapid spread of contagious disease due partially to high population density combined with the difficulties of economic survival in these areas.
