Andy Stanton wins national award in communications
Assistant Professor of Communication Studies at Fort Hays State University Andy Stanton won first place last September in the 2009 Communication Contest sponsored by the National Federation of Press Women. He also won a first place national award from NFPW in 2007.
Stanton designed and edited a manual for the Southeast Kansas Educational Service Center teaching adults how to talk to teens about bullying, drugs, violence, alcohol, drugs and other issues.
"It was a great honor to win because it's an organization filled with my professional peers across the country," said Stanton. "It's great to be able to continue with professional development."
The National Federation of Press Women is a nationwide organization of both professional women and men pursuing careers across the communications spectrum.
"This is a great way to showcase how the skills I teach in my classes such as; InDesign and desktop publishing really can apply in the professional world," said Stanton.
