Science Fun Month reigns supreme at Sternberg
HAYS, Kan. -- Fort Hays State University's Sternberg Museum of Natural History will celebrate Science Fun Month with activities on Saturdays throughout February to provide children ages 4-12 with an opportunity to attend engaging educational programs at the museum.
"A Day at Cretaceous Beach," Feb. 13, lets children comb the shores and scour the seas in search of the ferocious Kansas critters that once swam the watery depths that we now call home. Registration deadline is Feb. 8.
"Owl Pellet Plunder," Feb 20, investigates owl pellets to identify the skulls and bones of the variety of mice, rats, voles, shrews and birds that have been devoured by the wise old owl. Registration deadline is Feb. 15.
"Whats that Track?" Feb. 27, explores the variety of tracks left by animals that are lurking through the snow and soil on the prowl for food, water and shelter. By day's end, participants will mold an animal track to take home. Registration deadline is Feb. 22.
