HAYS, Kan. -- A summer construction project to improve a section of street on the Fort Hays State University campus will block normal access to the south part of campus and require drivers to follow alternate routes to some of their destinations. The university offers this description of the construction project to make emergency responders, students, employees and visitors to campus aware of the affected area.
Work on thePark Street/South Campus Drive Improvement Project will impact traffic flow and parking beginning on Monday, May 24. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of July.
During the term of the project, Park Street and South Campus Drive will be closed to parking and traffic between the east side of the Sheridan Hall parking lot entrance and the south side of the intersection of Park and Sixth Streets.
When responding to calls for assistance in the south part of campus, which includes the residence halls, emergency responders should enter campus from Elm Street. The only other access will be from Gustad Drive, by driving through the Malloy Hall/Tomanek Hall parking lot to the access road between Akers Energy Center and Tomanek Hall and out onto Lyman Drive.
