FHSU Encore Series to present 'Groovaloo'
HAYS, Kans. -- The latest installment of the Fort Hays State University Encore Series "Groovaloo: Get In The Circle," takes the stage at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 4, in the Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center in Sheridan Hall on the FHSU Campus.
The performance stars the winners of the 2009 NBC smash hit "Superstars of Dance," The Groovaloos. Based on the true stories of The Groovaloos themselves, and told by the dancers who lived them, the show combines the authenticity of "A Chorus Line" with the energy of "Stomp" as it embarks on a journey through the diverse world of hip hop dance.
Driven by displays of physical ability, a vibrant musical score and powerful spoken word poetry, the show's intertwined stories chronicle the struggles, hopes and triumphs of the 14-member cast as they discover the true meaning of family and share what it's like to be "in the circle."
From fear to freedom and choreography to freestyle, "Groovaloo" has inspired audiences from all walks of life to celebrate their passion and purpose and, in the process, reveals the heart and soul behind this art form.
