FHSU to mark Holocaust Awareness Week
HAYS, Kan. -- Nesse Godin, a Holocaust survivor, is coming to Fort Hays State University on Monday, March 1, as part of Holocaust Awareness Week. Her presentation will be at 7:30 in the Beach/Schmidt Performing Arts Center located in Sheridan Hall. It is open to the public.
Godin will tell her story of being a Jew and living in a concentration camp. She has spoken to many audiences including the Naval Academy and West Point. She has won numerous awards including the Myrtle Wreath and the Woman of Valor Award.
The movie "Defiance," which tells the true story of a group of Jews in Eastern Europe who fought back, will play at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2, in Cody Commons in the Memorial Union. Dr Patricia Levy, assistant professor of social work, will host a talk back immediately following the film. The public is invited to attend.
