Elected Kansas student leaders to volunteer as Kansas Corps
HAYS, Kan. -- University student body presidents and their legislative aides actively "gave back" this month in the name of Kansas Corps when they served at the Ronald McDonald House in Topeka on Feb. 17. The volunteers assisted by cleaning storage areas and reloading items into new shelving units at the charity house.
Participating Kansas Board of Regents Student Advisory Committee members came from campuses from all over the state: Fort Hays State University, Washburn University, Pittsburg State University, Wichita State University, Emporia State University, the University of Kansas and Kansas State University.
Kansas Corps' purpose is to unite student volunteers from all Kansas colleges and universities for the public service needs of the state. It is currently in its inaugural year and has completed a number of successful projects. With a single phone call, this group can be mobilized to provide disaster recovery, social services and community development assistance to any region of the state.
Kansas Corps welcomes the input of the community. To voice a community concern that Kansas Corps can help with, or for more information, contact Leah Noakes at kansascorps@fhsu.edu, or call (785) 628-4668.
