HAYS, Kan. -- The Fort Hays State University student body voted on a proposed student athletic fee increase in a special election on April 28 and 29. The proposal raises the student athletic fee paid by all on-campus students by $2.

The FHSU Student Government Association student senators encouraged all students to cast their ballot in the election. SGA senators visited countless classrooms educating their constituents of what the special election is all about and how to cast their ballots electronically.

At 7 p.m. on April 29, a news conference was held to announce that the fee increase was passed, with 601 votes for and 340 votes against the proposal.
