FHSU student to compete for 2010 Naftzger award
HAYS, Kan -- Fort Hays State University special graduate Emily Cline, Lyons, is one of 62 student musicians from Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma to compete for $11,000 in prizes in the 2010 Naftzger Young Artists Auditions and Music Awards.
Students will compete in one of three divisions; piano, instrumental and voice. Cline is competing in the voice category as a mezzo-soprano.
Auditions will be held on Friday, April 23, at Duerksen Fine Arts Center on the Wichita State University campus. At least two students from each division will be selected to perform in the finals at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 24, in WSU's Wiedemann Recital Hall. Finals are free and open to the public.
The Naftzger competition is made possible by the Naftzger Fund for Fine Arts Inc., created in memory of L.S. Naftzger, Ida L. Naftzger and Lee Southwell Naftzger II.
