FHSU student exhibits art piece
HAYS, Kan. -- Fort Hays State University graduate art student Casey Ross Stueber, Rahway, N.J., and his partner, Sarah DiPaolo, have a ceramic work on display in the "Tooth and Nail" exhibit currently showing at EDGE Gallery in Denver, Colo. The show runs on weekends through Feb. 21.
EDGE is a contemporary, non-profit, co-op art gallery dedicated to artists outside the domain of commercial art venues.
"My ceramic piece 'Resistance' consists of abstracted figures which express a psychological tension illustrated through literal tension in the connective mixed media," Stueber said. "The figures are hand-built stoneware with a cold finish applied to the surface. The wood base was sanded, stained and then carved to show drag marks from the front figure's feet. The nails in the figure are ceramic are finished with iron filing paint."
