FHSU students, faculty share research, creativity
HAYS, Kan. -- The recent Research and Creative Activities Week at Fort Hays State University allowed 159 faculty members, graduate students and undergraduates to share their research through 25 events, including two conferences and a poster display in the Memorial Union's Fort Hays Ballroom.
A total of 131 posters were divided into three categories of faculty, undergraduate and graduate. Within those categories were subdivisions of independent with less than 20 percent faculty involvement, peer collaboration and mentored with 20 percent or more faculty involvement.
Charles Carlson, Hays junior, was awarded the top mentored research poster with a perfect score. He represented the Department of Physics in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Steven Graf, Hays senior, was awarded the top independent research poster also with a perfect score, representing the Department of Geosciences in the College of Arts and Sciences.
First-place poster winners were Stephanie Kane, Dolores, Colo., graduate student, who represented the Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Health and Life Sciences; Dustin Reagan, Hays graduate student, who represented the Department of Geosciences in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; and Stephanie Griffin, Matfield Green special graduate student, who represented the Department of Nursing in the College of Health and Life Sciences.
