HAYS, Kan. -- Avery Schultz, Brewster senior, a Fort Hays State University art major, was selected as the winner of the crocodile sculptures contest as a part of "The Science of SuperCroc" exhibit's five-month stay at Sternberg Museum of Natural History.
Dubbed the "CrocCrawl," museum visitors and spring and summer Hays Arts Council Gallery Walk patrons had the opportunity to vote for their favorite crocodile sculpture from a variety of sculptures created by the FHSU Creative Arts Society and local artists.
Schultz's whimsical tutu-clad crocodile garnered more than a third of the total number of votes cast. For her winning entry, Schultz was awarded a $55 certificate for an annual family membership to the Sternberg Museum and a $25 gift certificate from the Hays Arts Council.
More than 34,000 people saw "The Science of SuperCroc" at FHSU's Sternberg Museum of Natural History which ran from March 13 through Aug. 5.
