HAYS, Kan. -- Fort Hays State University's Dr. Gladys Swindler, assistant professor of informatics, was recently featured in an education white-paper published by Pearson Education about its training and testing software, "myitlab."

"This is the second time that Pearson has featured FHSU's innovation and teaching models," said Swindler. "They have referred many instructors to me over the years to discuss my model and methodology."

The white paper focuses on Pearson's training software and how various universities and institutions utilize its functionality. Swindler began using Pearson's software in 2003 after using a competitor's software and finding it inadequate.

"I used Pearson's software for three or four years and immediately experienced higher learning outcomes," she said. "When they changed it to myitlab, I transitioned as soon as possible and am even happier."

Use of computer- and online-based education tools like myitlab is a prime example of FHSU's use of innovation to drive solutions to deliver exceptional attention and support to their students.

"Some students respond better to reading material, others to seeing it, others to doing an activity and others to hearing material," said Swindler. "myitlab enables me to optimally serve all our students by addressing all four learning styles."
