HAYS, KS - The public is invited to join Fort Hays State University at the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. This yearly event, sponsored by the Greek Community and Wendy's Restaurant, will be at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30, in front of Sheridan Hall on the FHSU campus.
Special features include a holiday welcome by FHSU President Edward H. Hammond, music by the Dickens Carolers, an announcement of the annual coloring contest winners and hayrack rides.
Santa Claus and Victor E. Tiger will make a special appearance to help kick off the holiday season. Following the ceremony, hot chocolate and cookies, compliments of Chartwells and Wendy's, will be provided in the Dreiling Lobby of Sheridan Hall.
A new event this year will be held after the tree lighting ceremony, at 7:30 p.m. in the Cody Commons of the Memorial Union -- cookie decorating and a holiday movie, Dr. Seuss's "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." This event is being sponsored by the FHSU Greek community and the University Activities Board. All are welcome to attend, and free rides will be given on the hayrack to the Memorial Union.
