HAYS, Kan. -- Monday usually sees a "closed" sign on the doors of Montana Mike's in Hays, but the Fort Hays State University rodeo team is throwing the doors open to serve up delicious food for area rodeo fans to support their team from 4 to 9 p.m., Monday, Dec. 6.
Tickets for the event are $12 and include a choice of chicken fried steak, chicken breast or fried shrimp. All meals include a choice of potato side, vegetable, dinner roll and drink.
"We had a meeting to come up with ideas to defray the cost of last year's rodeo," said Dr. Garry Brower, associate professor of agriculture. "The officers had heard of other organizations doing similar events, so we figured we'd give it a shot."
The money raised will go toward the cost of last year's rodeo and help the team in future endeavors.
Some of the events the club has planned for this year include a team roping jackpot at the beginning of the spring semester; a car-wash fundraiser, when the weather warms up; and community service at the Great Bend High School rodeo.
For advance tickets, contact Bronc Rumford, rodeo coach, or Ross Russell, assistant rode coach, at 785-628-4689. Tickets may also be purchased at the door on the night of the event.
