Sustainability and the future: The 7 Revolutions
Fort Hays State University is taking proactive steps in educating students to be globally competent citizens. In 2006, the AASCU American Democracy Project, in partnership with the Center for Strategic and International Students, the New York Times and with the assistance of 12 national scholars implemented The 7 Revolutions Initiative.
Two of the original scholars who continue to be instrumental in this process are Fort Hays State University's faculty members Dr. Curt Brungardt, and Dr. Darrell Hamlin. Another FHSU faculty member, Brett Whitaker, also has been integral in the implementation of this course. The 7 Revolutions explores the seven major global trends that will shape the world by 2025, which includes population; resource management and environmental stewardship; technological innovation; the development and dissemination of information and knowledge; economic integration; conflict; and governance.
Currently, Fort Hays has 28 freshmen who are taking four courses together, with one being The 7 Revolutions.
