HAYS, Kan. -- Fort Hays State University's Kansas Academy of Mathematics and Science, which offers high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to get a head start on their college education, will host eight free information sessions across the state for potential students. Students and their parents can learn about KAMS and visit with representatives from the academy.
KAMS is for students who excel in science and mathematics. Students live in a residence hall with other high-achieving students, earn a high school diploma and complete KAMS with approximately 68 college credit hours, said Dr. Roger Schieferecke, associate director for student services at KAMS.
To register for the sessions, go to www.fhsu.edu/kams or call 785-628-4690.
"KAMS is Kansas' premier early-entry-to-college program, where high school juniors begin their college education while still enrolled in high school," said Schieferecke. "If you enjoy math and science, are a high achieving student, and feel that you are not currently challenged enough, then KAMS is for you."
