HAYS, Kan. -- Fort Hays State University, Kansas Farm Bureau, Kansas Beef Council, AGRI 610 Beef Production students, Collegiate Farm Bureau and Block and Bridle are sponsoring their annual beef promotion event from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, in the FHSU Quad.
The event will feature a chance to win beef and a tame bull to help raise money for the Kansas Food 4 Kids Program. Kyle Bauer from "The Voice of the Plains" KFRM 550 AM radio station will moderate.
"The Beef Production students hosted and fed beef to 300 people on campus last year," said Dr. Brittany Howell, associate professor of agriculture. "This year we will add to the program an opportunity to win a prize while helping raise money to supply nutritious beef for the Kansas Food Bank's Food 4 Kids program."
Food 4 Kids was established for students who are food insecure and who are not getting sufficient food outside of school on a regular basis. The Food 4 Kids program allows participating schools to receive food and backpacks from the Kansas Food Bank at no cost so that the Kansas Food Bank can provide food to chronically hungry children.
