FHSU faculty receive tenure, promotion

HAYS, Kan. -- Fort Hays State University will promote and give tenure to 23 faculty members, who will be honored at a reception at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 5, in the Memorial Union's Stouffer Lounge.
The changes go into effect with the 2012 fiscal year.
Five faculty members were granted tenure and promoted to the listed academic rank:
Dr. Lexey Bartlett, associate professor of English.
Dr. Christie Brungardt, assistant professor of leadership studies.
Dr. Tim Davis, associate professor of social work.
Dr. Kim Perez, associate professor of history.
Dr. Beth Walizer, associate professor of teacher education.
Twelve faculty members were promoted to the listed academic rank:
Dr. Kayvan Alfatooni, professor of physics.
Dr. David Bovee, associate professor of history.
Dr. Gary Brinker, professor of sociology.
Dr. Gavin Buffington, professor of physics.
Dr. Rob Channell, professor of biological sciences.
Dr. Charles Gnizak, professor of economics, finance and accounting.
Christine Hober, associate professor of nursing.
Dr. Amanda Hopkins, assistant professor of teacher education.
Dr. Shala Mills, professor of political science.
Dr. Janet Stramel, assistant professor of teacher education.
Dr. Pelgy Vaz, professor of sociology.
Dr. Bill Weber, assistant professor of mathematics and computer science.
Six faculty members were granted tenure:
Dr. Emily Breit, assistant professor of economics, finance and accounting.
Dr. Conchita Espino-Bravo, assistant professor of modern language.
Dr. Keyu Jiang, associate professor of informatics.
Dr. Carol Moore, assistant professor of nursing.
Dr. Janet Naylor, assistant professor of psychology.
Angela Walters, assistant professor of informatics.
