HAYS, Kan. -- Mitch Holthus, the "Voice of the Kansas City Chiefs" and a Smith Center native, is well-known for being the longest-tenured play-by-play announcer in Chiefs' history. His infamous "Touchdown Kansas City!" has been broadcast to Chiefs fans since 1994.
The public will have the opportunity to be a part of a presentation that Holthus will give to a sports marketing class at Fort Hays State University from 9:30 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27, in the Pioneer Room of the Memorial Union on the FHSU campus.
Holthus will talk about the motivation required to enter and succeed in the sports marketplace, said Theresa Billiot, assistant professor of management and marketing.
"It's tough to break into the sports business, it's tough to be in the sports business, and it's tough to stay in the sports business," she said. "Basically, he will be providing a realistic view of the marketplace."
