HAYS, Kan. -- Ryan Shofner, a Littleton, Colo., senior at Fort Hays State University, won first place at the annual Kansas Entomological Society meeting at the University of Kansas.

Dr. Richard Packauskas, associate professor of biology, assisted Shofner with his presentation over different kinds of species.

Shofner and Packauskas recently published the discovery of a previously unknown insect species.
