HAYS, Kan. -- The Bank of Hays has created a new $1,000 scholarship at Fort Hays State University in honor of the Reverend William Miller, who worked at the Bank of Hays in community relations during the last years of his life.

He and his wife, Carolyn, have been long time supporters of Fort Hays State University and the College of Business and Leadership.

The College of Business and Leadership will award the $1,000 scholarship to a junior or senior student with a minimum 3.0 grade point average majoring in business or leadership fields.

Sandra Nickel, Hays Senior and a 2008 Hays High School graduate, was awarded the scholarship for the 2011-2012 academic year at the College of Business and Leadership annual awards ceremony.
