HAYS, Kan. -- Members of Fort Hays State University's chapter of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars have the opportunity to take part in NSCS's Summer Success S2 Challenge, a 12-week program that launched June 6 and goes through August.
FHSU members were invited to join more than 700 from across the country who signed up for the three-month challenge and to win a chance to become a scholarship recipient.
Each week of the program features a different challenge on the NSCS Facebook page as well as in the weekly newsletter for members to complete to earn points. For every challenge members complete, they are awarded a certain number of points.
"This is the first time we've done something like this on such a huge scale using the national Facebook page, so we're all very excited about the outcome," said Leah Schklar, coordinator of Member Services and Interaction. She manages the Facebook page.
"We love the idea of engaging and helping members grow throughout the summer, but we're most excited about awarding a $1,000 scholarship at the end of it!"
Each week, members have the chance to win a prize. At the end of the summer, the top three S2 challengers with the most points will be awarded scholarships. NSCS will award a $1,000 scholarship to the top challenger and two $500 scholarships to the runners-up.
NSCS is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and an honors organization for first- and second-year college students. Membership is by invitation only and is based on grade point average and class standing.
