Hispanic Heritage speaker rescheduled

HAYS, Kan. -- Fort Hays State University's Office of Diversity Affairs has announced that Dr. Juan Andrade, who was scheduled to speak as part of Hispanic Heritage month, has been rescheduled for fall 2012.
He was originally rescheduled to speak on Sept. 20, 2011, but the Office of Diversity Affairs deferred his contract until fall 2012 because of scheduling conflicts.
Andrade is the co-founder and president of the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute. In 2001, Andrade received the Presidential Medal from former President Bill Clinton for his extraordinary service to the nation and accomplishments in promoting civic participation and leadership development.
On May 4, 2011, he received the Ohtli Award, the highest award presented by the people and government of Mexico for his services to the Hispanic community in the United States.
Andrade established the Dr. Juan Andrade Scholarship for Young Hispanic Leaders, a $1,000 scholarship to a full time student at a four-year institution in the United States. One parent must be of Hispanic background. To apply for this scholarship go to ushli.org.
