HAYS, Kan. -- Among the opportunities available to Fort Hays State University students Spring Break 2012 is a backpacking trip across Spain.
Coordinated by the Department of Modern Languages, the trip includes backpacking from France to Spain, covering 100 miles in eight days through beautiful countryside and centuries-old towns. Accommodations in local hostels will be provided.
The trip is open to all majors, and knowledge of Spanish is a plus but not required. Two hours of university credit will be granted. Scholarships are available to all eligible participants.
The cost is estimated to be about $1,500, and the number of participants is limited to seven.
"I have gone on this trip four times, and others who I have taken have said it was the most memorable experience of their lives," said Max Maximov, instructor of Spanish and German languages.
An informational meeting will be from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, in the Memorial Union's Stouffer Lounge.
